FACTORS AFFECTING COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
(1) Heredity - Intellectual development of an individual is greatly affected by the interaction between inherited intelligence and the individual experience. Some children may be god gifted, some may slow learners. Their qualities are also based on their heredity.
(2) Physical Growth - Physical growth plays a very important role in one’s cognitive development. if one’s physical growth is not proper so his/her cognitive development is not proper. There is a very much strong relation between physical growth and intellectual development and healthy person is likely to have a better intelligence than a poor person who has a poor physique. If our diet is good so we are healthy and we have our proper growth only than we have proper and better intellectual development. For good or better intellectual development it is very much necessary to take proper diet and do exercises regular to keep self-maintenance or we can say proper maintenance of body for better intellectual development it is very much necessary to take proper diet and do exercises regular to keep self-maintenance or we can say proper maintenance of body for better intellectual development teacher must organise regular exercise and meditation in school area.
(3) Physical Environment -

(4) Family Environment -
Family environment affects the cognitive development in very higher manner as at primary stage when child is too small he spends his most of time in his family with his family members so the behaviour/habits of each family member effect the child’s intellectual development as he grows. The kind of discussions held in the family, type of reading material like book and magazines read by the family affect the intellectual development of child.
(5) Socio-Economic Status of the Family
Socio-economic status of the family is also a factor that influence the intellectual development of a child. Parents of high socio-economic group can send their children to good schoo. So the socio-economic status also can affect cognitive development.

The management of school and a very most important thing the discipline maintained in school by teachers and other staff included children, affect the intellectual development of children.
Without cognitive development, an individual may remain ignorant and indifferent to other aspects of development. He may be termed as a ‘snob’. He may not be able to appreciate and understand social relationships. Under emphasis on cognitive development may ignore emotional side of an individual’s personality. His health may also be adversely affected. To sum up, for the harmonious and total development of an individual, it is absolutely necessary to pay due attention to each aspect of the development as all aspects are interrelated and interdependent.
It is concluded that intellectual development is the result of a large number of factors. It is not an automatic process. It is a gradual and painstaking process
